About the Center

The Center is an interdisciplinary research and service unit in the College of Education. Through a diverse array of programs, in collaboration with campus, schools and community partners, the Center supports the literacy development of all residents of Illinois through teaching and learning, scholarship and service projects.

The Center's activities are overseen by a director who is an Illinois State University faculty member. The director works closely with an executive group of six affiliated faculty members to discuss ongoing projects and services. General Center faculty meet twice annually to develop new Center initiatives.

Faculty members from different disciplines and departments are affiliated with the Center. Their research/publications have appeared in English Journal, Journal of Adolescent and Adult Literacy, Reading Teacher, Harvard Education Review, Educational Theory, and International Journal of Knowledge Management among others.
